When you have limited time and money to spend on a trip, it can be overwhelming trying to make the most of it. Planning out your trip ahead of time can allow you to let go of some of your worries and enjoy the moment as you set off on a new adventure. Of course, there are so many different options when it comes to travel planning, so here I’m going to list a few resources that I find useful.

Flight Watching Apps

Apps and websites like Hopper and Kayak can help you compare airlines and keep an eye out for affordable flights. If you already have a travel date picked out then Hopper can project whether flight prices are likely to rise or fall, and estimate the best time for you to book. Remember when booking a flight to check which amenities and luggage allowances are included for your trip to avoid extra fees.

Guidebooks

There’s an unlimited number of resources at your fingertips with the internet, but if your looking for specialised expert advice about your travel destination then try a guidebook. Publishers like Lonely Planet, DK Eyewitness, National Geographic, Rough Guides, and many others all create travel guides that provide unique insights and resources to help you get the best experience anywhere across the globe. Making a list of which sights and attractions you’d most like to see can help you prioritise while planning for your trip.

Travel Blogs & Reviewers

If you’re looking for a more personal or relatable source for your travel advice, come back here to Journey to Witzend! If you can’t find what you’re looking for here then there are many other wonderful travel bloggers out there, such as Alex in Wonderland or Nomadic Matt. There are also many great travel review sites and forums to help you choose where to stay and what to see while traveling.

Tour Companies & Buses

If you’re still having trouble finding a way to fit in all the activities you’d like to do into one trip, consider using a tour service. The great thing about organised tours is that they come in all shapes and sizes. If you’re hoping to travel far and wide and see as much of a certain place as possible, consider a multi-day group tour. Companies like G-Adventures and Intrepid Travel will organise all your transport, accommodations, and itinerary for you, giving you a chance to relax and simply enjoy your trip. If you’re trying to fit a lot of sightseeing into a small amount of time, consider a hop-on-hop-off tour bus. Websites like Expedia and Booking.com can help you find the right tour bus or excursion for you. Always remember to check the reviews and book with a reputable company.
