Happy Pride Month! This is the perfect time of year to talk about one of my favourite queer-owned businesses, Sirkel Foods! Right in the heart of Stratford Ontario, Sirkel Foods is a welcoming take-out restaurant, full of pride and amazing food. Open for breakfast and lunch, they offer a delicious assortment of sandwiches and salads, fresh baked goods, and more.

Though the sandwiches are great, I found the few asian inspired dishes to be the stars of the menu. The chow mein in spicy peanut sauce is easily one of the best meals I’ve eaten in Stratford. Everything on the menu is fresh and homemade, filling the cafe with mouthwatering aromas.

The thing that really makes Sirkel Foods special is the atmosphere. When you walk in the door you’re greeted with bright colours and friendly faces. The beautiful array of pride flags leave no doubt that it is a safe and inclusive environment.

Being able to not only feel accepted, but to feel celebrated and embraced, is what makes LGBTQ+ spaces so important. And though Sirkel Foods may only be a small business, there’s no way to measure the value of the feeling you get walking through the doors, and being greeted with warmth and positivity.

Whether you’re a Stratford local, or just in town for the festival, Sirkel Foods is the place to get your next meal. Learn more about them from their website; sirkelfoods.com
